October is Illinois Archives Month!
Every October Secretary of State and State Archivist Jesse White, the Illinois State Archives, the Illinois State Historical Records Advisory Board and the Chicago Area Archivists cosponsor Illinois Archives Month. Archives Month celebrates the unique and diverse collections that are preserved in archives across the state of Illinois. This year's theme is "Let Us Surprise You." Did you know that Parkland College has its own archives of unique historical material? In honor of Illinois Archives Month, Parkland College Archives is rolling out its new website, full of fun and informative facts about what the Archives has to offer and how you can get in on the action.
Visit our website then plan a trip to the Parkland College's Archives to see what surprises are in store for you!

Magazine Use Study - Vote With Your Reading!
Magazine Use Study: please do not reshelve magazines in the Library!
The Library is doing a print periodicals (magazines & journals) use study from October 15th until November 9th. The purpose of the study is to help library staff make decisions about print and online access to periodicals, and to ensure that we are providing the best materials in the most appropriate format for you.
Please continue to use any journals and magazines as you usually do, but please do not reshelve periodicals after use. Instead of reshelving, simply place materials on the carts located in the Current Periodicals area or leave near a photocopier if you are making copies. Library staff will record usage and then reshelve all periodicals.
Thanks in advance for helping to make the study a success!

Like Your Stuff? Don't Leave It Unattended.
As an important reminder...
Unattended laptops, cell phones, iPods, calculators, text books, and wallets (whether in or out of a bag/backpack) attract thieves. Please do not step away from your valuables, even for short trips to the copier, printer, or restroom. Instead, pack up and take your belongings with you or have a friend watch them while you're gone.
Note: Thanks to Lafayette College Library for this wording. Thievery is not limited to one college or one place. Be alert in public places.
