Where did all the tables go?

No, the library isn't clearing space so we can practice for So You Think You Can Dance auditions.  We actually have new tables on order for you...tables with easy-to-access power outlets to match the ones upstairs.  In order to make room for these new tables, we cleared out some of the old ones.

There is still plenty of space to spread out and study.  The third floor silent zone is ready and waiting for you to bury your head in the books.  We also have the group study room available if you and your friends need some extra room.  Just talk to a Librarian; they will be happy to help you find the perfect location.

Like Your Stuff? Don't Leave It Unattended.

Just an end-of-the-semester reminder...

Unattended laptops, cell phones, iPods, calculators, text books, and wallets (whether in or out of a bag/backpack) attract thieves. Please do not step away from your valuables, even for short trips to the copier, printer, or restroom. Instead, pack up and take your belongings with you or have a friend watch them while you're gone.

Don't leave your stuff alone for someone to steal.

Note: Thanks to Lafayette College Library for this wording. Thievery is not limited to one college or one place. Be alert in public places.

Artist Statement:
Art has always been a part of my life. I came to Illinois to study Medical Illustration. As my family grew I continued to take classes this time at Parkland. That first class with Jack Extrom got me involved with pastels and I started doing portraits of children.

As my children and their friends aged so did my subject matter. In 1995 I again took a class with Jack this time in painting. My habit of choosing just the right color in pastel as opposed to mixing colors kept my paintings bright and vibrant. I love painting quirky subject matter of children and now young adults.

This painting is one of three that I have done from pictures taken underwater with a flash camera and I hope to do more.

Throughout my career I have won numerous national and international art competitions. I choose not to sell art in a gallery setting but do show my work and occasionally sell it at http://www.zhibit.org/liddiastevens or just type my name in and find the zhibit site and a few others.

I am honored to be a part of the Parkland Library Art Collection and am especially pleased with the selection of this painting for the library.
