Films on Demand offers ways to make films more accessible!

The Google Translate feature, at the bottom right of every page, makes Films On Demand accessible to users of all languages. From the drop-down menu, users can select from 53 translation languages, and the page's text will be translated into the selected language. This tool is perfect for users for whom English is not their first language, as well as for foreign language learners.

More than half of the videos on Films On Demand feature interactive transcripts and closed-captioning. If a title has a transcript available, a "Transcript" tab will display on the View Video page. With interactive transcripts, users can view the full text of the video and follow along as the video plays; print the transcript; click on any word in the transcript to jump to that exact point in the video and begin playing the selection; and search each transcript to locate every instance of a specific term in a video.

U.S. Constitution Week

With the Presidential election only 50 days away, and only 5 weeks until early voting starts in Illinois, now is a great time to take a look back at where it all began.  Today kicks off U.S. Constitution Week and we have created a display on the main floor of the library.  This display includes a number of books from our collection dealing with the drafting of the Constitution and also showcases this year's Constitution Week poster from the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Stop by, have a look and read, and reflect on the beginnings of our nation as you prepare to cast your vote in the coming weeks.  Also, if you still need to register to vote, you can do so up until October 9th in the College Center and still be eligible to vote in the election on November 6th.
