Don't leave your belongings unattended in the library

Unattended laptops, cell phones, iPods, calculators, text books, and wallets (whether in or out of a bag/backpack) attract thieves. Please do not step away from your valuables, even for short trips to the copier, printer, or restroom. Instead, pack up and take your belongings with you or have a friend watch them while you're gone.

Note: Thanks to Lafayette College Library for this wording. Thievery is not limited to one college or one place. Be alert in public places.

  1. Note that you should also take your belongings into the restroom stall as well. Many people leave their backpacks on the floor near the mirrors, but things can be stolen there as well!

  2. I always think of the library as a safe place, so thanks for the reminder.
